The World Series of Poker (WSOP), the world's largest poker tournament, is capturing the attention of poker fans with the release of its full summer 2026 schedule. A particularly noteworthy change is the potential return of the 'delay format' for the Main Event final table, which hasn't been seen in 10 years.
In an official announcement on February 16th, the WSOP revealed that 100 gold bracelet events will take place from May 26th to July 25th at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. This 57th edition of the WSOP aims to offer even more action and opportunities following a record-breaking 2025 season.
Main Event Final Table Date Undisclosed, Is 'November Nine' Making a Comeback?
The biggest talking point this year is the schedule for the $10,000 Main Event final table. The tournament begins on July 2nd, with four starting days concluding on July 13th to determine the final nine players. However, the WSOP has only stated that the exact dates and broadcast details for the final table will be announced later.
This is interpreted as a potential revival of the 'November Nine' format, which was in place from 2008 to 2016. At that time, the WSOP would postpone the Main Event final table for several months, giving players time to prepare and allowing fans to get to know the finalists better. This format was considered successful in increasing the tournament's dramatic effect and focusing media attention.
If the final table delay is confirmed, finalists will have the opportunity to secure sponsorship deals or refine their strategies. It also builds anticipation among poker fans worldwide for the final showdown. Some analysts suggest this could be a strategic move to avoid media competition with the FIFA World Cup, which kicks off on July 14th.
Free YouTube Live Broadcasts and New Production Environment
Starting this season, the WSOP will offer free daily live broadcasts on its official YouTube channel from May 26th until the start of the Main Event. Broadcast from a newly equipped TV studio at Paris Las Vegas, these streams will deliver the WSOP action live to fans around the globe.
The commentary team will include renowned poker commentators, including Jeff Platt. Platt recently signed a long-term contract with the WSOP and joined the broadcast team, stating that this year's coverage will usher in a 'new era.' He plans to highlight more events and diverse players, offering in-depth storytelling.
Six New Events and More Multi-Flights
This year's WSOP will feature at least six new bracelet events. The season kicks off with the $550 buy-in 'Mini Mystery Millions,' offering a top bounty prize of $1 million and six starting days. Additionally, the $10,000 buy-in 'GGMillion$ High Roller' tournament will be held on May 31st, prominently featuring the GG Poker brand.
New tournaments for Omaha enthusiasts are also notable. The $1,500 buy-in 'Five Card Pot Limit Omaha' will take place on June 18th, followed by a dealer's choice event called 'Pick Your PLO' on July 9th. This tournament will cycle through various Omaha variants, including PLO, PLO8, Five Card PLO, and Big O.
The WSOP has also added more starting flights to popular events. The $25,000 Heads-Up Championship now includes a Day 1B, and the $1,000 Mystery Millions has increased from five to six starting flights, with re-entry opportunities expanded to two. These changes are seen as strategies to attract more participants and increase prize pools.
Summer Circuit Series to Run Concurrently for the First Time
One of the most significant structural changes this year is the first-ever concurrent running of the WSOP Circuit Series at the end of the summer season. Held from July 14th to 25th, the circuit will feature 18 ring events with buy-ins ranging from $300 to $5,000.
Circuit highlights include the $400 Mini Main Event, $600 Monster Stack, $300 Ladies Tournament, and the $1,700 Main Event. The WSOP aims to ensure continuous poker action in Las Vegas with this circuit.
A New Era Led by GG Poker
Now in its second year of ownership of the WSOP, GG Poker is demonstrating its commitment to evolving the tournament with this schedule release. The Main Event final table delay, free YouTube live broadcasts, and the addition of new events are all interpreted as strategies to elevate the tournament's status and attract global attention.
WSOP CEO Ty Stewart stated, "We look forward to thousands of incredible stories unfolding at the WSOP, just like in 2025. We are more committed than ever to shining a brighter spotlight on the game as poker's biggest stage."
Jack Effel, Senior Vice President of Poker Operations at Caesars Entertainment, added, "This year's WSOP will offer more action and opportunities than ever before. We are thrilled to welcome the poker world back, from the first 'shuffle up and deal' to the crowning of our Main Event champion."
The 2026 WSOP is now just 99 days away. As the exact schedule for the Main Event final table is announced, anticipation among poker fans is expected to intensify.
