Biao Ding Finishes 7th in WSOP $100K High Roller, Top Asian Performer in Summer High Roller Series
China's Biao Ding secured $255,491 (approximately 350 million KRW) by finishing 7th in the 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Event #36, the $100,000 High Roller. In this event, which saw 115 participants and a prize pool of $11,040,000 (approximately 15.2 billion KRW), Ding aimed for the win as one of the final nine players but was eliminated in 7th place when his pocket 8s were cracked by Alex Foxen's A-8. The victory went to Brazil's Yuri Dzivielevski, who claimed his sixth bracelet and $2,841,432 (approximately 3.9 billion KRW).
Three Consecutive Deep Runs in Summer High Rollers
This 7th-place finish holds even greater significance when viewed within the context of Ding's overall performance in the WSOP High Roller series this summer. He kicked off the season with a 3rd-place finish in Event #19, the $25,000 High Roller, earning $819,504 (approximately 1.13 billion KRW). In the $25K Heads-Up Championship, he staged a remarkable comeback with three consecutive double-ups against Daniel Negreanu to reach the quarterfinals. Including his 7th-place finish in the current $100K High Roller, he has consistently made deep runs on the highest-stakes stages of the WSOP this summer. His combined winnings from these three events alone amount to approximately $1,074,995 (about 1.48 billion KRW).
Reaching China's All-Time #1 After $25K High Roller 3rd Place
Ding's most pivotal moment this summer occurred during the $25K High Roller, in a 3-handed situation. When Joey Weissman shoved all-in for 8-high from the small blind, Ding called from the big blind with K-Q. Ding completed the nut straight on the turn, eliminating Weissman and, at that moment, propelling him to the top of China's all-time live money list according to Hendon Mob. Although he ultimately finished 3rd after being stopped by Kristen Foxen, it was a hand that marked a significant milestone in his career.
7th Place in a Final Table of Legends
The final table of nine in this $100K High Roller was an extraordinary lineup of poker legends, with a combined total live earnings of $191 million (approximately 262.7 billion KRW). After Martin Kabrhel was the first to be eliminated in 9th place, Sam Soverel followed in 8th, Ding in 7th, and Foxen in 6th. Ding secured a minimum payout of $255,491, concluding his final table appearance. The eventual winner, Dzivielevski, was a late registration on the final day but overcame a chip disadvantage to defeat Teun Mulder of the Netherlands (2nd place, $1,894,282) in heads-up play.
Ding's first WSOP bracelet remains an unachieved goal. The fact that this high-stakes crusher, who holds two titles from the Triton series, is consistently challenging for top spots on the world's biggest stage suggests that his further pursuits in the latter half of the series, leading up to the Main Event in July, will be closely watched.
